If last year was the year that London reached its culinary zenith – with a big-name restaurant seemingly throwing open its doors every month, 2017 looks set to be the year that the city reaches its hotel peak. Currently experiencing an influx of new openings, the latest place to hang your hat when in town is The Mandrake Hotel.
The brainchild of entrepreneur Rami Fustok, son of renowned sculptor Bushra Fakhoury, this was always going to be a hotel with a twist – there’s a mystical world waiting to be explored. And, after months of low key preparation, the hotel is finally unveiling itself to London on Aug 7.
This is a brand new independent boutique hotel in the heart of London, combining eclectic, vibrant interiors, extraordinary art and specially designed scents. The result? An ambience that is intimate, distracting and intriguing. Guests are promised to be paired with welcoming hospitality that is attentive and personal but never intrusive.
The Mandrake will house 34 stylish and eclectic bedrooms, with three luxury suites and a dramatic penthouse with a Jacuzzi and retractable roof. Designed to let the outside in, it is inspired by the Gardens of Babylon. Each room overlooks the spectacular first floor terrace, with its outdoor bar and restaurant, magnificent hanging gardens and views over the courtyard below.
Art is at the forefront of The Mandrake philosophy with an enviable art collection, carefully curated over many years and continually evolving. Some has been specifically commissioned for the hotel and the Interactive Artist in Residence programme will feature emerging and established artists and performers.
The team from the critically acclaimed, Michelin starred Serge et le Phoquein Hong Kong will be opening their second venture in the hotel, along with the pizza hotspot on the terrace and providing home cooked treats in the mini bar. This beautifully designed, 80 cover restaurant will serve guests with exquisite, ingredient focused cuisine with a French twist. There’s a 16-person private dining rooms too for those requiring a more personal and private dining experience.
