UEFA Supercup

Every year, the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), the governing body for European football, organises a match between the reigning champions of the two main European club competitions, the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. This year, taking place on 14 August at at Beşiktaş Park in Istanbul, it will no doubt be a match for the ages.


US Open

All the biggest players from around the world are sure to descend on New York once again this year for America’s preeminent tennis competition. This 26 August to 8 September, players will vie for the opportunity to knock Novak Djokovicand Naomi Osaka from their respective perches. The fourth and final tournament of the major events that make up the schedule of grand slams, it is always replete with tension and intrigue.

Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix 

Always a sellout, the Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix in picturesque Spa Francorchamps is one for the books. Taking place on one of Europe’s historic racetracks from 30 August until 1 September, the surrounds are elegant with their constellation of landmarks and beckoning scenery, with a host of five-star restaurants nearby. Belgium’s first national race was held here in 1925 and since then the association with motorsports continues to grow with strength. 

Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps

Designed in 1920 by Jules de Thier and Henri Langlois Van Ophem, the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps used public roads between the Belgian towns of Francorchamps, Malmedy, and Stavelot. It was the fastest road circuit in Europe for a time, with a reputation for being very dangerous. Now, it is possible to drive the course at one’s relative leisure, stopping along the way at world-class restaurants and to rest at five-star properties each night.
