Art Basel is the ultimate art fair for collectors, artists, and enthusiasts and this year’s edition will take place from 15-18 June in Basel, Switzerland. Founded in 1970, the fair has since grown into a platform for the world’sworld’s leading galleries to present modern and contemporary works of high quality. It takes place every June and showcases the works of more than 4,000 artists from 250 leading galleries worldwide.
The fair’s history is an impressive success story, starting with only 16,000 visitors to its inaugural show to now attracting over 90,000 visitors each year. Over the years, Art Basel has introduced Art Unlimited, a large-scale art exhibition that showcases sculptures, video projections, and live performances. It has also expanded into satellite fairs in Miami Beach, Hong Kong, and Paris.
Parallel fairs include Liste Art Fair, which provides a platform for young galleries to showcase emerging talent; Volta Art Fair, an important parallel fair for younger international galleries; and Photo Basel, the only international art fair in Switzerland dedicated entirely to photography-based art.
