THE HOUSE ON SATHORN

The House on Sathorn by W Hotel is set in the Old Russian Embassy. All the original fixtures have been kept, from the window shutters to the ornate pillars, parquet floors and even the grand old trees in the courtyard. Comprising a restaurant, cocktail bar and large courtyard, it has taken three long years for this hotly anticipated venue to be completed.

BENJARONG DUSIT THANI

Location: Silom, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand

The recently revamped Benjarong is currently one of the city’s best kitchens for genuine Thai flavours. It’s also one of the most inventive. The long-standing venue’s turnaround was orchestrated by Danish chef Morten Nielsen. Trained in the high-flying art of molecular cuisine in Copenhagen, the chef combines modern techniques and traditional flavour profiles to produce contemporary dishes that are distinctly Thai at heart.

THE BLUE ELEPHANT

While new restaurants pop up daily in Bangkok, the Blue Elephant retains its title as one of the best places to enjoy fine dining Thai cuisine in the country. Most of the dishes here include ingredients sourced from the Royal Project garden up in the northern mountains. Located in an impressive colonial-style mansion, the Blue Elephant has been open since 2002 and now has locations across the globe. Not only is the food here renowned, the restaurant is also noted for its cooking school, which attracts thousands of visitors each year.

GAGGAN

The renowned restaurant Gaggan has been named the No.1 in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants for three consecutive years, and that’s all down to their creativity and constant reinvention. Chef Gaggan Anand put Indian food in the fine dining spotlight as he set out to redefine traditional Indian food with what he calls “progressive Indian cuisine”. Gaggan has made the bold move to close the restaurant in 2020, as he hates to be predictable and needs to take a break to reinvent himself. So make sure you visit the restaurant now before it’s too late!

NAHM

Consistently ranked among the finest restaurants in the world, and with a Michelin star chef David Thompson at the helm, Nahm serves fine Thai cuisine with ancient recipes as inspiration, with a focus on how the flavours and textures of top quality ingredients interact together. Based in the Como Metropole Bangkok, the restaurant occupies the ground floor of the hotel, overlooking the outdoor pool. Guests may dine within its cool interiors or out on the terrace to enjoy the relaxed environment.

KARMAKAMET

Since its opening, Karmakamet has established itself as a popular destination dining place, coming a long way from its original humble abode – an essential oils shop at Chatuchak Market back in 2001. The restaurant, set in a traditional garden looks like a mysterious sanctuary, and has attracted many to search for it, which can be a bit of an adventure in itself! Whilst the restaurant is well known for its cuisine, everyone flocks to the destination for the very famous and gorgeous rainbow candy floss dessert.
