Diane von Furstenberg Guestrooms & Suites at Claridge’s

In perhaps the rarest of collaborations, Claridge’s has come together with Diane von Furstenberg to bring her signature style to a series of the iconic hotel’s guestrooms and suites.

Claridge’s is renowned the world over for its Art Deco take on luxury hospitality. It is an emblem of timeless elegance and has been patronized by Diane von Furstenberg for the past several decades.

“Claridge’s is the most glamorous hotel in the world. Hotels like this don’t exist anymore and the legacy must be respected! It is very important to keep the original architecture and the formality of the layout of the rooms in order to preserve the old style of grand hotel life that I love so much. It has been a true privilege to design new furniture, fabrics and rugs to keep it relevant for today’s needs and taste,” says von Furstenberg of the collaboration.

Diane von Furstenberg is a modern global nomad. She spent the past four decades, since founding her eponymous label in 1972, crisscrossing the world. Working in tandem with her longtime friend and interior designer Olivier Gelbsmann, the hotel’s iconic Piano Suite was the first to be unveiled.

Each room transformed by DVF features her iconic prints and textiles, while maintaining the hotel’s Art Deco heritage. Each piece of furniture harkens memories of trips to various parts of the world. The dressing table is reminiscent of Italy. The cocktail bar resembles jewellery boxes found in the Middle East. Light fixtures were created in the UK and Paris using Murano glass. Each space’s walls feature photos from her travels abroad to Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Ultimately it is the textiles and upholstery that makes these rooms quintessentially DVF. From animal print to bold geometrics, her signature patterns make each space as eclectic as her fashion house.
