Summer sporting events.

There are enough sport events to keep the fans happy all year round, but these are some of the summer’s more exhilarating and exclusive!

Cricket World Cup 
Held at four-year intervals, the Cricket World Cup is an international cricket championship that pits together the best teams in the year. One of the most-watched sporting events in the world, the first Cricket World Cup was held in 1975 in England. Australia made history in 2007, becoming the first-ever team to win three consecutive World Cup titles. This summer, England and Wales are hosting the six-week tournament, which began on 30 May with England’s victory over South Africa and will come to a close on 14 July at Lords in London.

Scottish Golf Open

Each year, between June and October, golf fans from across the globe descend on Scotland to watch the best platers at the finest courses, including Gleneagles and St Andrews Old Course. One of the main events in the season is the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, which will be held at The Renaissance Club in East Lothian for the 37th year on 11-14 July. Spectators will have the opportunity to experience top-end cuisine and try out a range of pop-up bars, music stages and luxury retail outlets. With fantastic food and drink outlets in the championship village and music and retail experiences to keep you entertained, it is the must-attend sporting event of the summer.

King Power Polo Gold Cup
Regarded as one of the preeminent events on the polo schedule, the King Power Gold Cup brings together some of the top players in the sport to the lush, green grounds of historic Cowdray Park.  Beginning on 17 July with the final taking place on 21 July, this match is the decider for the British Open Polo Championship. Amidst the thrum of excitement, guests will find high-end food and drink stands, as well as a bustling shopping village. For those who want to plan ahead, it is possible to pre-order a divine picnic basket from the Cowdray Farm Shop and Cafe. 

F1 German Grand Prix

Back in 1932, Hockenheimring was originally designed to serve as a test track for Mercedes cars preparing for the Tripoli Grand Prix. The first F1 race was held in 1970. It featured a dramatic finish, as Jochen Rindt drove his Lotus home, a nose in front of Jacky Ickx’s Ferrari. Over the years, the track has been modified to create more drama and diversity. In 2002, for the circuit’s  70th anniversary it changed again – in both look and name, now known as Hockenheimring Baden Wurttemberg, it remains a hugely popular and prestigious event on the circuit, this year taking place on 26^ththrough the 18^thof July.

Qatar Goodwood Festival
Perhaps the world’s most-impressive race with over £4.9million in prize money and 13 Group races across five days, is the Qatar Goodwood Festival. A place to be and be seen, watch as the best horses navigated by world class jockeys take to the hallowed track. A social event as well as a race, there is a new street food vendors area, where racegoers can quickly pick up something tantalising to eat. Caterers, Rhubarb, which also services the Royal Albert Hall and London’s Sky Garden among others, is behind the hospitality areas and restaurants spread throughout the grounds. The five thrilling days set against this extraordinary natural backdrop take place 30 July until 3 August every year.
