Yves Saint Laurent museum to open in Marrakech

Yves Saint Laurent have found a dynamic new location for their collection, with the opening of the new Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech in autumn 2017.


The museum will house 5,000 items of clothing, 15,000 haute couture accessories, and tens of thousands of sketches and objects. “When Yves Saint Laurent discovered Marrakech in 1966, he was so moved by the place that he decided to buy a house and regularly go back there,” said Pierre Bergé, Saint Laurent’s long-term partner and president of the Fondation.

Next to the museum in Marrakech, guests will be able to visit the beautiful Majorelle Garden, owned by YSL and Pierre Bergé since 1980.

The Majorelle Garden is a twelve-acre botanical and artist’s landscape garden, designed by the French artist Jacques Majorelle in the 1920s and 1930s. The Majorelle Garden is said to be Jacque Majorelle’s greatest art work, which has been open to the public since 1947.
