Chaumet presents “Imperial Splendours” exhibition in Beijing

Rich in history and traditions, Chaumet has delved back into its archives to produce an impressive exhibition aptly named “Imperial Splendours” in the Palace Museum, Beijing.

Under the direction of Henri Loyrette, Director of Musee de Louvre, the display is built around Chaumet’s patrimonial wealth and will showcase over 300 pieces from the marque’s treasured archive. From paintings, drawings, jewels and objets d’art, it offers visitors a chance to appreciate its traditions, heritage and go behind the scenes of what the brand has been splendidly crafting since 1780. Prestigious collections and prominent museums have come together to support the event, namely the Musee du Louvre, the Château de Fontainebleau and the Victoria and Albert Museum of London.

A must-see piece is the Bourbon-Parma tiara which was made for Countess Hedwige de La Rochefoucauld in celebration of her marriage to the Prince Sixte of Bourbon-Parma. The Palace Museum has also selected several items from its own collection to be offered as an exchange between the Chinese and French jewellery arts, to unveil shared inspirations and reciprocal influences.
