The 2023 Oscars is upon us once again, and the world is eagerly awaiting the most prestigious event in the film industry. The 95th Academy Awards is scheduled to take place on 12th March 2023 and will be held at the Ovation Hollywood, formerly known as the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center. This venue has been the home of the Oscars since 2002.
Hosting the 2023 Oscars is Jimmy Kimmel, who is no stranger to the event. The comedian and talk show host has previously hosted the Oscars in 2017 and 2018. In a statement accompanying the announcement, Kimmel joked, “Being invited to host the Oscars for a third time is either a great honour or a trap. Either way, I am grateful to the Academy for asking me so quickly after everyone good said no.”
The Oscars are renowned for their star-studded line-up of performers, and the 2023 event is set to be no exception. This year, the ceremony will see two of the biggest names in music, Rihanna and Lady Gaga, go head-to-head with their original songs “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and “Hold My Hand” from Top Gun: Maverick, respectively.
The format of the 2023 Oscars ceremony is still unknown. Still, we know that all 23 categories will be included in the live telecast, unlike in 2022, when eight categories were presented off the air. This was confirmed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences CEO Bill Kramer, who said, “We are committed to having a show that celebrates the artisans, the arts and sciences and the collaborative nature of moviemaking. This is very much what the mission of the Academy is, and I am very hopeful that we can do a show that celebrates all components of moviemaking in an entertaining and engaging way.”
